I've only been playing for about a month or so now but heres a few ideas I've had. Forgive me if these have been brought up already.
1. Glider Suits. A controlled fall like in real life for base jumpers. No jet packs or things like that. Something that could allow you to glide and control where you land within reason from a high enough position like the MCC or very tall buildings. This could even be limited to light suits like the scout or pilot variants. How cool would that be to take a dropship to the top of a tower and unload a squad of gliders to float behind enemy lines? Or at the very least, not just have to fall straight out of the MCC anymore?
2. Turrets. Small placable auto turrets. They could have weak HP, do moderate damage, and have a limited proximity range. This could be an equipment slot, something for our logibros to drop and help secure a location as the squads move on to the next objective.
3.Sheilds. Placable baracades. They could be deployed as two drop spikes that have to be within a certain range and in line of sight of each other. Maybe you could drop a spike then have to run and drop another one relatively nearby, and if you pull it off you can now create a small temporary wall to either defend or redirect the flow of battle. The wall would only soak so much damage before collapsing. Maybe resist small arms fire better than shots from turrets and HAVS. Or the end spikes could be the weak point. Again, something for the logis.
4. EMP. For all intents and purposes Dust/EVE is the super future, why not have some battle field level EMP weapons? Maybe a directed ray, maybe a blast radius. It could knock out the enemy HUD, cut off real world mic comms for squads and teams, distort drop suit vision, temporarily stun vehicles or suits, shut down our fancy future weapons, halt the ability to hack, disturb maps and scanners, blindly mess up and randomize spawn points, any of these ideas. If its a blast radius maybe it could affect friendlies as well. Put a big charge up timer on it, or require a lot of team WP before its available. The EVE Fanfest presentation on the future of Dust heavily hit on Electronic Warfare, and this could be a big part of that.
5. Real Buildings. Maps that actually allow you to enter buildings. Maybe you could fight your way up multiple floors, or break open a window to snipe from the 43rd floor of a massive tower. Real structured buildings could help create an atmosphere of real urban combat. Of earning your victory block by bloody block. No longer just a large box to either stand on or behind. You could even have a map/level inside a large space station, indoor combat still tied into the greater EVE universe idea of capturing and holding assets/territory. A seige to take over a facility. It can all be tied into the story somehow. What if us Mercs were unloaded from one EVE ship into another and could attack/defend that way?
6. Salvage. While I do appreciate the interesting and rare new guns that I can hopefully someday use, why is there no salvaging of suits, equipment, vehicles, or modules? I figure all of those things would be lying around after a battle what with all the stacks of dead bodies that we collectively stack up. I can pick up a very nice special SMG but not some really cool shield extenders or some rare AURUM suit I wouldn't otherwise buy?
7. The Race Card. While we do have some racial difference thanks to our suit choices, and I believe that vehicles are race themed, nothing much is really affected. How about race specific weapons? I play as a Gallante, so why not have my available weapons be all Gallante? A Gallante AR as opposed to an Amarr AR maybe could hit harder but fire slower (just to make sure they understand our freedom bullets better). Something along these lines. Plus, what was the point of picking a bloodline when I chose my race? It didn't affect my physical features, racial bonuses, or initial militia load outs, right?
Any CCP or community input is welcomed. Thanks for reading.
